Brittle Natural Hair

It may not seem like it because of commercials and Hollywood movies, but taking care of natural hair isn’t easy.

Waking up with perfect, flawless hair is something we’ve all dreamed of. Not having to brush, shampoo, and condition our tresses sounds like a far-fetched fantasy.

When you wake up with dry and brittle strands, all you want to do is chop everything off. But what if we told you there was a way to salvage your hair? What if we told you, you don’t have to live with dry and brittle hair?

Here’s what you can do:

Apply Oil after a Shower

After you come out of the shower, here’s what you should do: apply a little bit of oil to your hair roots. Since hair is naturally dry, applying a little bit of oil can go a long way. Your scalp will get the nutrients and your hair will get the nourishment it needs.

Use a Wide-Tooth Comb

hair styling

It’s understandable that you want to use a boar brush to get rid of the tangles and knots quickly. It can be tough when you don’t have time and you’re already frustrated. But this can damage your hair badly!

Instead of a boar brush, go with a wide-tooth comb. This’ll detangle the knots in your hair easily. You need to be gentle with your hair. Wide-tooth combs don’t aggressively tug at the roots of your hair.

Don’t Apply Heat

Since it’s summer, applying heat can do the opposite of making your hair look good. It can lead to more frizz. The worst part is that you’re exposing your roots to heat directly. This can damage the roots of your hair and result in hair loss.

In addition, this can irritate the scalp, leading to dryness and even skin problems. Go for hairstyles that don’t use heat.

Leave-In Conditioner Is Your Friend

Using a leave-in conditioner can moisturize your hair and roots. By providing your hair with the nutrients it needs, a leave-in conditioner will hydrate your scalp from within. It’ll also control the amount of oil your scalp produces. Excessive oil produced by the scalp can also damage your hair.

The result? Soft, silky, and smooth tresses! But make sure to go with a natural conditioner that isn’t harsh on your hair.
